Hello Joshua: I have attached a couple of templates for appointment of a probate GAL which you could adapt for your purposes. I have also included a template requesting waiver of appointment of a GAL if the decedent was the parent of the child beneficiary and the other parent survives.

Subject: [WSBAPT] appointment of GAL for minor in intestacy probate

 

I have encountered a first. I need to ask the court to appoint (ex parte here, I’m told) a GAL for a minor in a straightforward intestacy proceeding. I have found forms for this petition in family law/divorce; and I have scoured our section’s/WSBA’s electronic handbook and my “WA Boot Camp” electronic materials. (I have admittedly chosen to write to you all before trudging through 15 inches or so of paper in the beautiful binders accompanying the former resource. 😊)

 

If you have the simplest of petitions asking the court to appoint a GAL for a minor in an intestacy, I would be so very grateful. I guess “bonus points” for a model order as well.
