Subject: Re: [WSBAPT] How to get a death certificate
A couple of years ago, I was able to get a death certificate in somewhat similar circumstances by submitting an explanatory cover letter on my letterhead with the application. I had a bit more to go on in my case. We had filed the deceased person's Will as "Will only," so I provided a copy of the docket showing me as attorney of record for the estate. It's relatively low effort, so maybe worth a try.

Subject: [WSBAPT] How to get a death certificate
Good afternoon,
PC lives in Arizona. Her husband's sister-in-law (wife of his brother) passed in 2010. She had a life insurance policy. Policy named brother-in-law/husband of PC as the primary beneficiary. Brother-in-law/husband of PC died in 2021. Policy was discovered in 2025. Insurance company says that PC can claim the policy if she provides a small estate affidavit (policy is worth less than $100,000), and a certified death certificate for both brother-in-law/husband of PC AND the sister-in-law who owed the policy and died in 2010. However, because she is not related to sister-in-law, and sister-in-law has no living relatives, she has been unable to get a certified copy of the death certificate for her. There is otherwise no reason to open a probate for either husband or sister-in-law. Any ideas for how to get a certified copy of the death certificate for the sister-in-law?
Thanks,
Anna
