Amy, I suggest that you try contacting John Strohmeyer. I talked with him about an ancillary probate a couple of years ago and he was very helpful and very knowledgeable and more than willing to help. Here is his contact information:

Subject: [WSBAPT] Texas Probate

Good afternoon -

I have a client in Troy, Texas, for whom I am probating the estate of her grandfather here in Washington (Spokane).

Her grandfather owned an interest in the client’s house and for that reason, it would seem that a Texas ancillary probate is necessary.

The client met with a local attorney. The client said the attorney said the ancillary probate was not necessary and that I could handle the Texas property through the Washington probate.

I know that doesn’t make sense, but is there someone who is licensed in Texas or anyone have a referral to someone there who could help with an ancillary probate?

Thanks in advance -

Amy
