I have not had encountered this issue. In fact I was PR for my mother's probate in Maryland and opened a Chase Estate bank account at a Seattle branch of Chase and they opened it while I was there - they didn't require it to be sent to legal. Seem like banks and other financial institutions are all over the map with their rules.

Best regards,

Subject: [WSBAPT] Chase Requiring Letter re: Out of State Bank Account

Colleagues,

A client (PR for her father's estate) lives in Phoenix and went into a local Chase branch with her Letters, DC, and EIN to open an estate bank account. Chase said they needed to forward her documents to their legal department for review and asked her to obtain a letter from my office stating that she has permission to open an out-of-state bank account. The agent claimed this was common practice and said I should be familiar with the letter. I am not. Has anyone else run into this with Chase?

Thanks,
