[WSBAPT] co-Guardians - Different States

Hi David,

I assume the kids are located in WA currently?  That sounds like a legal nightmare.  I've dealt with guardianships both in CA and WA, and the transfer of a minor guardianship from CA to WA.  Even if the courts approve this, I foresee at least 2, maybe 3 different court cases if the children start out in WA.  And there will need to be two, maybe three, investigations and reports to the courts.

I wouldn't recommend it, but if there is a lot of money for dealing with the court, and (maybe) if the parents state in their wills exactly why they want this appointment of guardians, maybe it will be approved.

I have an interesting guardianship request from some clients.

Clients want minor children to have co-guardians in different states if both clients die. One guardian from father's side in CA and one guardian from mother's side in GA. Clients want children to go to school in CA and spend summers in GA.

Does anyone have any guidance as to whether the court would approve these appointments?
