[WSBAPT] Title Search

Colleagues,

I am handling an estate where the decedent owned several cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, etc. – some operable and some not.  My client, the personal representative (with nonintervention powers), is the mother of the decedent and cannot account for every car, truck, boat, motorcycle, etc. as some were abandoned, some were stolen, some were already given to family members without my knowledge (and without any official transfer of title).  I’m at a loss.  My understanding is that the personal representative needs to release the decedent’s interest in anything titled in the decedent’s name by filing an Affidavit of Loss/Releasee of Interest with the DOL (and providing her letters testamentary).  Is there any resource for running a search to find out what cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, etc. remain in the decedent’s name?  is there anything else we should be doing to dot our i’s and cross our t’s?
