I agree with Roger that this is pretty common. My approach is to prepare the Agent’s Certification of Authority under RCW 11.125.190(5) and have that notarized. Then I send the notarized statement along with a letter citing RCW 11.125.200. I remind the bank that if they don’t grant access to the agent within 5 days they are in violation of RCW 11.125.200(1)(b). And also remind the bank if they insist on a court order of validity, they are liable for the fees under RCW 11.125.200(3)(b). That usually gets the bank to accept it, but there are a few stubborn banks, so sometimes you have to file a TEDRA Petition…

Good luck with that.  I think it is common; but before you turn somersaults to find an inside counsel, try talking to the manager; they often know better than the front line folks.

This is a first for me in my years in Sequim.  An Agent presented her mother’s DPOA, that I drafted, to Sound Bank.  It said it won’t honor “outside” powers of attorney because it has its own “in-house” forms.  After splashing down into the ocean after reaching Mars in a nano-second, I decided I need contact either an in-house attorney with Sound Bank for a heart to heart or talk with one of its regular outside counsel.  Thus, do any of you know who are the in-house attorneys or their outside counsel.
