[WSBAPT] Deceased & Missing Beneficiaries

Three (or four) questions:


  1.  Under the following language, does the bequest lapse if the beneficiary does not survive the testator?  “To my son, John Doe, I leave the sum of exactly one dollar ($1.00).  This bequest shall be the entirety of the property John Doe shall receive under this will.”



  1.  For an adult beneficiary studying overseas, must we send the Notice of Appointment overseas?  Or can we send via confirmed receipt of an email?  (I realize the statute says personal service or mail.  I’m curious whether anyone else has used electronic mail in lieu of the postal service.)


  1.  How do we provide a Notice of Appointment (and eventually, a distribution) to a homeless beneficiary with no physical address and whose whereabouts are unknown?  The distribution is $1.00 so I want to be mindful of costs.
