[WSBAPT] Referral requested: invalid will issue

Listmates:

I had a client years ago who died in 2016 in Seattle. She had a domestic partner with a copy of an email she drafted a few years before her death, purporting to be her will. It was not signed, witnessed, or notarized. He recently contacted me to find out if there is any way to "bootstrap" this document into validity, because it leaves her estate to him.

I shouldn't represent him because the client emailed me the proposed will when she drafted it and I could be called as a witness regarding her intent at the time. I was certainly aware of her wishes.

Would anyone be willing to consult with him on this matter? He is concerned because of a house they owned jointly. Her interest will go to her estranged family if the will isn't valid.

Please let me know if so, and I'll pass on your name.

Thanks,
Candace Wilkerson
