[WSBAPT] BofA Branch Demands Raised Seal on Letters?

I had several hundred thousand as opening deposit for a RLT that had become
testamentary and I got a cashier's check from my trust account at BOA and
went across the street to Heritage when BOA nickeled and dimed me on what I
cannot even remember when I tried to open a trust account.

The best response to these folks who make life more difficult then it needs
to be.

Yep. I've been having issue with both of them as well. And the same issue
with B of A wanting "original" letters, "you know, ones that have 'real'
seals on them". I told my client to take their $250k across the street to
Homestreet, and they got an estate account set up quite easily.

Gawd! There was someone on here yesterday lamenting BECU's refusal to set up
an account over an easily explained name situation.

Those two financial institutions are the bane of a probate attorney's
existence! They suck up an outsized amount of practitioner time dealing with
inane BS. They act like it's the first time one of their customers has died.
It's ground hog day every day with them. Reinventing the wheel, etc. etc. I
just want to give them both the one finger salute on every interaction!!!

Listmates:

This was going to be a question, but since I found a workaround it will be a
mere rant.

I opened a probate recently in King County in Seattle. Client took a
Certified Copy of the Letters Testamentary to the decedent's bank - Bank of
America.

The bank would not accept the certified copy because . the seal was stamped
not raised.

I have never run into this particular speed bump and was under the
impression the Clerk no longer issued Letters with raised seals.

Well, for future reference, the Cashier's Section at the Clerk's Office
tells me that they are aware some banks, and he named a couple, are "butts"
about this and so they keep a couple of embossers around. You can, if you
specially request it, obtain certified copies of Letters with a raised seal.
Total stupidity. But the first thing I learned in law school was never argue
with a bank because the bank always wins.
