Saddle me up, Pancho, that is a windmill I want to bring down. Thanks for alerting us John; I haven't encountered that particular stupidity yet myself.

Sincerely,

Eric

Subject: [WSBAPT] BofA Branch Demands Raised Seal on Letters?

Listmates:

This was going to be a question, but since I found a workaround it will be a mere rant.

I opened a probate recently in King County in Seattle. Client took a Certified Copy of the Letters Testamentary to the decedent's bank - Bank of America.

The bank would not accept the certified copy because ... the seal was stamped not raised.

I have never run into this particular speed bump and was under the impression the Clerk no longer issued Letters with raised seals.

Well, for future reference, the Cashier's Section at the Clerk's Office tells me that they are aware some banks, and he named a couple, are "butts" about this and so they keep a couple of embossers around. You can, if you specially request it, obtain certified copies of Letters with a raised seal. Total stupidity. But the first thing I learned in law school was never argue with a bank because the bank always wins.
