Hi All,

I started a joint probate (husband and wife dies within 6 weeks of each other), and am having trouble with the bank establishing an estate account. Usually the institution will open an account in the Estate of Husband, and use the EIN for this estate, and open an account in the Estate of Wife with her estate EIN.
This particular bank says they need to open an account in the name of Estate of Husband and Wife (because that’s what the Letters Testamentary caption states) , and need one EIN for Husband and Wife estate. Since they are separate estates joined for probate, I’m pretty sure I can’t get one EIN for both estates. I don’t think the court will issue Letters Testamentary with just one decedent listed on the caption. We’re at a stalemate.

Anyone know how to navigate this?
