I have had no problem with Safeco insuring the deceased  vacant house while it was on the market

Like Phil, I have had difficulties with this as well. The last time I had this was about 18 months ago. I contact my personal Allstate Agent and she could not bind it under Allstate coverage, but she was able to place it with another insurance company that was willing to insure a vacant house.

COVID-19 UPDATE:
• Rodgers Kee Card & Strophy will no longer maintain “open” hours at the physical office.
• All the staff is working remotely.  We are routinely monitoring our voice mail and email, which is the best way to communicate during this period.

I’ve not had difficulties with this. Some homeowner policies are satisfied if someone resides there a weekend a month or so.

Otherwise, where that’s not an option the existing agent has always been able to have a rider written up covering the vacant estate or trust owned home.
