[WSBAPT] IRS EIN system down tonight through Jan. 4

I was able to obtain an EIN this morning, around 7:30 am Pacific Time, no
problem.

A couple of you emailed me separately when I sent this alert on Dec. 23. So
now here is this fun update: 

 

I just tried the IRS EIN Online Application page and it is still down, even
though the yellow box still says it is down until 7 a.m. Eastern TODAY
(which passed many hours ago, except perhaps in The IRS Universe). When I
optimistically click on the "Apply Online Now" button, it still errors out. 

 

Anyone happen to have any inside news on if/when this is coming back up?

FYI: I just logged on to get an EIN and discovered the IRS's online system
for obtaining EINs will be down from 5 p.m. Eastern today 12/23 until 7 a.m.
Eastern on Monday, 1/4 (meaning all of next week at year-end). 

 

Just thought it kind to share, as this is not what I'd call "thoughtful" of
the IRS to do at year-end. Best, Josh
