Greetings List -
I received a voicemail from a representative from the Social Security
Administration indicating that one of my Decedent's from 2020 had an
overpayment of $8,200+ and they want it back.
The Probate went through all the regular machinations and closed earlier in
this year.
I have tried to do basic online searching and found a forum where people
are talking about this being fraudulent practices of scammers. There was a
link to the SSA website warning about scams but did not provide a number
where people can call to verify.
Uncertain how to proceed. Is it normal to receive a phone call without any
correspondence?
