[WSBAPT] determning payoff of DSHS Lien

Josh,
I don’t know if you already have this, but here is a cut & paste of what is showing on the website:
Estate Recovery
OFR recovers correctly paid long-term care services, Medicaid assistance, and related medical charges from the estates of decedents. Recovery may be made from estates of recipients of state-funded long-term care services (without regard to age) and Medicaid services aged 55 and older at the time of death.
Upon receiving notice of a recipient's death, OFR investigates if the decedent's estate has resources and whether a claim to recover costs of service provided to the decedent can be made within the parameters of the estate recovery statute. If these conditions are met, a lien is filed against the decedent's property and/or a Notice to the Creditor claim is filed against the decedent's estate in probate court. HRSA and ADSA rely on these funds to help offset the cost of medical and personal care delivered to current recipients

Wow – that’s certainly a frustrating experience! Good luck, and let us know when you get to the bottom of it 😊

I am going keep on with this string as I hope it helps someone. Earlier I posted that I was allowed to leave a voice message (in the tree that was supposed to be DSHS Medicaid – Estate Recovery), and that is the good news. Got a call back in about 1/2 hour... great. Very friendly guy however he described himself as a child support guy, and I said “This is a DSHS lien payoff for Medicaid” so he said “let me try to get you a better phone number” and I said I have the name of the “authorized rep.” and he said great let me see... and finally gave me a 360 phone number for that rep (this lien was filed 4/21). So I called it and the recording said “this is not a working number for DSHS”.

Thanks. I tried the phone number on the lien, called it, but I got a long recording because I didn’t have the worker’s 10 digit extention # (which isn’t on the lien),whatever, then a long recording then press 5 for lien recovery or something, then finally leave a message.... That could work. If not I hope my email will work.

Get a copy of the lien from title. It should have the contact info for the DSHS officer that has the file.

I am assisting a client on a real estate sale. Title co. reports that there is a DSHS Lien
I called the phone number and got a recorded message which seemed to say that I can get the payoff if I email to osrerpayoff at dshs.wa.com<mailto:osrerpayoff at dshs.wa.com>
But I must have heard it wrong.
Anyone know the correct email address/ place to obtain an email??
