Hi All. If you go to King County Recorders website you’ll see that eRecording is an option. https://www.kingcounty.gov/depts/records-licensing/recorders-office/recording-documents.aspx

You can get the information to set up e-Recording account with King County Recorder’s Office by emailing them at KingCountyRecorders.CustomerService at kingcounty.gov <mailto:KingCountyRecorders.CustomerService at kingcounty.gov> . Read through the information they email to you.

You’ll need to set up account that you’ll access via Landmark Web. https://recordsearch.kingcounty.gov/LandmarkWeb

You’ll access your account via Login on top right side.

Customer Service at KCRO is very helpful. E-Recording is done via scanning the original document and uploading. Recording fees can be paid by setting up escrow account with KCRO or, better yet for me, via credit card. There is a convenience fee for the service but no ongoing monthly or annual fee as with other third-party services. Documents are recorded and in system quickly and there is no waiting for return of original documents. I just e-recorded death certificate with REETA and could view online through my account what I e-recorded. I asked customer service folks if there was suggestion about affixing recording number to original document. Response was that the images after e-recording will have recording stamp on them in lieu of a printed recording label. The document image can be printed and kept with original document.

I’ll definitely continue to e-record documents in King County in the future.

Greetings List -

I want to give a great public shout out of Appreciation to my friend Rebecca King at the Northwest Elder Law Group. She is a facebook friend of mine and saw an exasperated post about the duration of time it is taking to get filings back from King County Recorder - and introduced me Simplifile.

If you don't know Simplifile.....check them out. Appears to be an easy and cheap ($50 annual license plus $5 per transaction for plan for those who don't record that much) way to avoid mailing things to recording.

IF YOU ARE MAILING to King County Recording - had a nice talk with the Records and Licensing Services Division Director - Norm Alberg. Here is what I learned that I want to pass along as a public service announcement.

It takes approximately 14 days to process a transfer filing (such as a PR Deed) when it is sent via mail. THEN, all of the filings in one month are HELD for microfiche imaging AND THEN RETURNED to you. So for my filing that was sent in the middle of July. It was recorded on August 3rd and it was put (allegedly) in the mail back to me on September 8th.

I likely won't ever do this again as I will use this handy dandy Simplifile method whenever possible - but for those who do the "old fashioned way" - this is what you should know about the existing time.
