[WSBAPT] Washington Estate Tax

I do where there are multiple beneficiaries. In this particular case there is only one beneficiary, so I advised her to make a final distribution to keep the income tax compliance simple.

Yes. They do take their sweet time.

Even stranger and before the pandemic I had a B&O Request for Executive Level Reconsideration where they didn’t respond for five years before approaching us to enter into a closing agreement.

Back in the day when they fell behind they would at least stop the interest clock running. I hope that’s still the case in cases where there are assessments.

John, Thank you. I’m three months behind you. Do you routinely instruct the PR to hold back a substantial amount? Seems as if they should hire some additional help at the Department. Allen

I have one filed on 3/27/19. When I talked to them in February they said call in early June. We’ll see. I believe they’ve fallen behind even further.

It has been my experience that the Department of Revenue was taking at least 18 months to review returns before the pandemic. I would expect that the pandemic would only increase the time.

I filed a Washington State Estate tax return last year. I was told by the Department that processing should be complete by June of this year. Does anyone know if the Pandemic has delayed processing? Thank you, Allen
