Brent,

Actually, I should have read your facts more closely.  I assume your
client has until your bank will no longer honor the check to cash it.

Maybe you can send client a certified letter asking for their
confirmation that they received the check, and asking them to contact
you.

From time to time I have received mis-delivered mail intended for a
neighbor or a house a couple streets away. I’m embarrassed to say
that, occasionally, I’ve delayed a couple months in giving the mail
back to the mail carrier or in walking up the street to give it to my
neighbor.  So, it is possible that the mail was mis-delivered.

But, the WSBA could probably give you pretty good guidance.

Brent,

I’m pretty sure you are supposed to send unearned and unclaimed trust
funds to the WSBA.

I’ve never had to do that but I’m pretty sure I’ve read that somewhere.
I’m sure if you called them, they could tell you exactly how to proceed.
