[WSBAPT] Creditor's notice of guardianship

As a creditor, how would you receive notice of a guardianship of a debtor?  If you file a lawsuit against the debtor and serve him personally with the s/complaint, how are you to know there is a guardianship?
If there is no requirement for a guardian to seek out and provide notice to creditors, seems there should be no such burden placed on a creditor once the lawsuit is served on the debtor.
An attorney whom I  have worked with just received a summary judgment dismissal of his tort litigation against a debtor even though he had service of process on the debtor and had no knowledge there was a guardianship.

What am I missing?
