Hi Heather,
If it’s Emory, it’s most likely Emory University Medical School in Atlanta, GA (my home state):
https://www.med.emory.edu/
If this is correct, it’s a very prestigious facility, and yes, the attorney would need to be licensed in Georgia.
My law firm has an office in Atlanta. I don’t think they do medical malpractice, but I can ask if they have any referrals if you don’t hear from anyone else.
Best,
Candace Wilkerson

Subject: [WSBAPT] off-topic referral request - Florida Medical Malpractice attorney
Dear Listmates
An acquaintance of a friend of mine is trying to find a referral to a medical malpractice attorney in Florida. She is based in Tallahassee.
The details as I understand them are that the patient was a former singer, the surgery had something to do with her vocal cords which now appear to be permanently damaged - she can't speak or swallow. The doctor rewrote history, particularly the part about what he had covered in advance of the surgery with the patient. The facility is Emory - not sure if it's based in Tennessee or Georgia, for some reason the potential client believes the attorney also needs to be licensed in Georgia. She seeks a med-mal attorney willing to go up against Emory (which she believes might be hard to do), and who can communicate with her w/out phone conversations (given her voice).
Do you know any med-mal attorneys in Florida?
Thanks so much,
Heather
