You could add a provision such as: 
I authorize temporary life-sustaining treatment prior to implementing my above stated directions only in the event, and only for so long as, my physician believes it could restore my quality of life.  

 or

I authorize temporary life-sustaining treatment prior to implementing my above stated directions for no longer than [2 – 4 weeks].



NOTE:
