[WSBAPT] Re-Opening Court closed probate

King County started reviewing old probate cases so I think I would start with the clerk assigned to see if you need to reopen by motion or if you can go into ex parte and do what you want to do.  Here is email received if you had some old probates still opened with little or no work for 12 months:

Good Morning,

You are receiving this email as you have one or more estate cases that has been dormant for at least 12 months in King County Superior Court. On June 8, 2018, a Clerk's Alert went out which announced that we have 12,000 open estate cases and that we were asking for your help to close them. We posted a list of all open estate cases on our website and we saw that many took action to close their estates. As of June 1, 2018, all new estate cases are receiving notices that estate cases must be completed in a timely manner.

We write today asking for you to review and close your inactive estate cases. If you are not ready to close your case, you may file a "probate case status" report (see template below).

Depends on the County. Some counties require a motion to re-open, and others (I think King) don't require anything; it's okay to just file in the "administratively closed" probate because the closure has no legal effect on the PR's authority. It's just to let the Clerk archive the case.

Check the county's website for any standing administrative orders relating to delinquent probates.

Subject: [WSBAPT] Re-Opening Court closed probate

Hi all-  the Court closed a probate due to inaction by the client and he would like it re-opened and finalized properly (there are still some funds that apparently need to be distributed).  Does anyone have experience with this?  I am hoping I can bring a simple ex parte motion to re-open while I present the closing documents, but maybe this is overly optimistic?  Nothing will be contested.
