Client suffered ransom ware attack on Christmas Eve through staff member's
offsite laptop. Client maintains significant financial data and personal
info on each client.
Server was locked down by the perpetrator and data made inaccessible.

Client's tech negotiated a very nominal fee for the "code" to unlock the
server, paid in Bit Coin.

Client is now trying to determine if any data was uploaded by the perp as
part of determination of scope of response to the attack.
I am seeking an attorney or consultant that can advise the client about how
to manage the notices to client's customers about the attack.
Client does not wish to make any admissions of liability, and wishes to
craft an appropriate response which details the precautions they took to
prevent breach, etc.
This is a tough deal for client because they paid IT provider to maintain a
firewall and monitor for breach of system.
Thanks for appropriate referrals.

Sorry for any duplicate notice due to cross posting.
