[WSBAPT] cred claim for decd spouse debt

Forgive what is probably a pretty basic question, but my fuzzy brain needs some assistance today.

Husband died 3 years ago, with unpaid nursing home bill.  No subsequent probate.  Surviving spouse (wife), who would be responsible for community debt, did not pay it.  Now wife has died, and her probate is in progress.   Does creditor claims procedure of wife’s probate work also against that old nursing home debt?
