[WSBAPT] negotiating with DSHS

Hi Folks,

I have a PR client who will need to be negotiating (?) with DSHS. They filed a claim that exceeds currently available assets of the estate. There will eventually be more assets coming in from another estate, so I do not consider the estate insolvent, but we don’t know the exact amount that will be received, and it will probably be delayed by litigation. How much flexibility does DSHS have in accepting something less than the full claim? Should I send a letter with a satisfaction of claim stating the amount I hope they will accept? They did not file a lien, because there was not any property on which to place a lien. Any suggestion as to percentages they tend to accept? I am thinking they will value money now over more money later.

thank you,

Krista
