For what it's worth, when I attended the BOG meeting a few months ago, to
speak out on the changes the BOG was making, it was pointed out by a few
governors that "tagging on to someone else's letter" was not a "real"
objection. Therefore, the tagalongs were not considered, despite how many
members said they supported letters already written. A few governors said
they would only consider individual member contact as legitimate concerns. I
spoke out against that snide attitude as well, but ultimately the BOG did
what it wanted.  

On this issue, given the BOG attitude, I would encourage you to individually
reach out, not only to your governor, but to all the governors, and voice
your opinion on this issue.

Please add my name to the list of those who support the opinions expressed
in your letter.  I have already written a letter of my own, and I would
encourage everyone to take the time to draft and send a letter voicing
opposition to the proposed expansions of the LLLT program.  If ever there
were a time to show unity, now is the time.  Make no mistake, the proposed
expansions are against the public interest and inimical to the legal
profession.  Why the WSBA is so hell bent on pushing these proposals in the
face of so much opposition from its membership is a mystery to me.  ( I have
yet to read a single letter in support of the proposed expansions.)

The day after tomorrow the LLLT Board meets with the Supreme Court to
recommend expanding LLLT practice areas, both in family law and in new legal
areas. Its proposals are attached for your review.

A number of attorneys and court officers are alarmed at the major changes
being sought. Concerns should be immediately sent to the Supreme Court
before Wednesday's meeting. While individual letters/emails are encouraged,
you may instead want to consider the attached letter which will be sent to
the Court tomorrow. If you want to endorse this letter by adding your name,
please email me before midnight tonight (Monday); I intend to list all names
alphabetically.

I hope that the voices of many will send a forceful message. Thank you for
your consideration.
