Subject: Re: [WSBAPT] negotiation Medicaid/DSHS lien

Dear Rob, my experience is that DSHS gives notice of intent to file a lien against the real property and then may negotiate some reduction. It all depends on the facts. If there is a child of the deceased that is medically needy you may be able to get the entire amount excused. I hope this is helpful. Yours truly, Doug Owens

I am going to expose my ignorance. I don't have much experience negotiating DSHS reimbursement claims against an Estate arising out of Medicaid payments on behalf of the decedent. Forced sale of real property will either not yield enough, or virtually exhaust assets of estate. Does DSHS negotiate these, and if so, any thoughts?

Thanks.

Rob
