[WSBAPT] Fax Lines?

I went through a similar quandary when moving my office and decided to ditch
the separate fax line. I had been using a dedicated eFax number for about
12-15 years before that.

The multifunction printer we have in the office works as an outgoing fax and
is just plugged into the regular phone lines. I still use that for filing
in Snohomish County until they get eFiling.

As a backup for receiving faxes, my office voicemail accepts faxes and sends
them to me via email. I don't publish that I actually can receive faxes and
took it off all my letterhead, business cards, pleadings, etc. In the last
two years, I've only had a client ask about faxing me once - and mailing
would have worked.

Subject: [WSBAPT] Fax Lines?

Office Management Question: Have any of you solo or small office
practitioners dropped your dedicated fax line and have any problems??? My
local Sheriff's department is the only one using my fax line for the past
eight years on a consistent basis and they say they can just mail their
stuff to me (which is not time-sensitive anyway).

What say you? Is this 20th Century technology I can safely drop? Aren't
the courts allowing filing by email instead of by fax?
