In my experience, a copy should work fine Krista. If you are an attorney that they see in front of them on a pretty regular basis, the Commissioners trust that you have done your due diligence to make sure you are opening a probate for someone that is truly dead.

Subject: [WSBAPT] King County - Certified Death Certificate Required?

Hi Folks,

Can anyone tell me with certainty whether a (not very good) photocopy of a death certificate will suffice to open a probate in King County, or if a certified copy is required?

Thank you!

Krista
