For whatever its worth -

We keep duplicate originals of the powers of attorney, community property agreements, living trusts, health care directives and disposition of remains.  We make a copy of the will and are now affixing an original affidavit of subscribing witnesses to the copy in case the original gets lost.  We are also retaining an electronic copy of all documents, since that is easier to retrieve than the hard copy from off-site storage.  We used to keep original wills in a firm safe deposit box and then in a firm safe, but ran out of room and the bank safe deposit boxes moved quite a distance away from our offices!
