I'll second the suggestion of IGS.  I've used them several times, a couple of times when we had to find unknown descendants of unknown grandparents.

I was pleased with International Genealogical Search's service and pricing on a recent search. Our search was a little different than yours - we were looking for a specific person - but they provided useful information in a reasonable period of time. I rarely need this service, but would use them again.
I worked with Barbara Tuomisto (1-800-663-2255 ext. 6780). Their website is heirsearch.com.

My client was Guardian of the Person and Estate of a gentleman who died.  We converted the guardianship proceeding to a Probate.  My client is not aware of any heirs of the deceased.  Can anyone recommend a good heir search firm that I can use to try to locate heirs?
