A probate and creditors' notice would undoubtedly result in no payment or much smaller payment. If there are no assets, the bills don't have to be paid at all.

Subject: [WSBAPT] Off topic question

Client's wife passed away in 2014. Client is left with over $30,000 in medical bills. We are trying to assist him in getting financial assistance in paying those. One big question is what Medicare coverage the wife had (Part A,B,C,D, etc.). According to Medicare, even the deceased spouse cannot get coverage information without Letters Testamentary or the equivalent. Has anyone found a workaround to find out Medicare coverage information after the patient is deceased without LOT? There is no estate to probate, therefore no LOT.
