[WSBAPT] Finding Remote Heirs

Thanks for your reply. Does that mean that I can start the probate listing only the named charity in my petition but also ask the court, in the petition, for authority to hire the heir search company? If so, I assume that the 20 day time frame to give notice to heirs would be tolled until an heir is located. Is that right?

Also, do you have an heir search company that you would recommend?

Kristina

I notified the court the last time I dealt with that issue, and asked for authority to hire an heir search company.

We actually found a half niece and nephew.

Listmates,

I have my first probate case where there are no lineal heirs, no living parents and the decedent was an only child, so no surviving issue of the parents. Decedent has a will and everything is going to charity. I’m wondering what others with more experience usually do to track down the more remote heirs to give them the statutory notice of the probate?

Thanks in advance for your response.
