[WSBAPT] Rescind Pension

Client's retired father died unexpectedly this month, having completed his
pension paperwork just a few days before his death.  He elected to receive a
greater lifetime income benefit and smaller death benefit, wife had signed
off.  The paperwork has been received by the employer, but the pension has
not been processed by the administrator and no payouts have been made yet.

 

Is there any chance that the family can still rescind the setup in favor of
the greater death benefit for the surviving family?  Can an appointed PR do
it?
