[WSBAPT] Starting probate without death certificate

Exactly.  Sometimes the item does not need to be filed (e.g., a death
certificate, a bank statement) but the court wants to see it just to
reassure itself that things are being handled correctly.  So you bring it
to court and hand it to the commissioner.  He or she will usually hand it
back to you.
