There is a nursing home negligence section within the WASJ membership; do you want me to post this there?

Hi All,

PC with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) is in a small residential nursing home. The home caters mainly to elderly people with dementia, but PC’s mind is very clear and alert (although he has no use of his body). He has seen several instances of mistreatment of the residents by the caregivers and the owner of the premises. He has also been the subject of mistreatment, one instance of which could have resulted in his death if he didn’t adamantly reject the medication being offered. He has documented everything he has witnessed or experienced. I have read his documentation and spoken to him about this, and I believe it’s a serious problem and something needs to be done ASAP. I do not practice in this area of law, though, and I think he would be better off with a lawyer who knows the law related to caregiving and nursing homes. Do any of you practice in this area or know someone who does? I am hoping to give him some names to contact in the next day or two.

Thanks!

Heather Kolbly
