[WSBAPT] Guardianship listing

I do not believe that you can review guardianship cases on the ECR but I
was not aware that you cannot even determine if there is a guardianship
case cause number. Best to call the King County Superior Clerk and ask I
think. What does the title say on his rather substantial funds statement?
He should have bank statements or pleadings at home that reveal if there
is a guardianship. If he is 94, finding documents and pleadings may be
too much for him though. Does he have a tax return? That might give you
some clues. Family members he trusts?

Big issue is that you can’t get paid to represent him if he is in a
guardianship unless you petition the court for approval from my
recollection.

A 94 year old PC came into my office concerned about the fact that
someone else has been handling his rather substantial funds in a Northern
Trust Account. I am looking in the King County Courthouse to see if a
guardianship was established for him, which he thinks is the case. I came
up with nothing. Are guardianships not listed in the online cases?

I would recommend they go to the local DSHS office for assistance. They
appear to be under the CSRA limit, which should make qualifying easy.

Subject: [WSBAPT] Medicaid

Close friends in Spokane need to apply for Medicaid. They have a house
with a reverse mortgage, $20k in savings, and are living on the husband’s
pension. Husband’s death is imminent. The attorney they spoke to in
Spokane wanted $3000 to assist with filling out the Medicaid paperwork.
Client says she filled out Medicaid paperwork for her husband’s parents
without issue. Is there any reason they need an attorney to help with
this? If so, what is a reasonable fee for this type of assistance?

Thanks in advance.
