I’d have her sign a petition for probate of will and set out all the facts
and request she be appointed sole PR since son will not cooperate and then
note it up for hearing giving notice to son and all the other potential
heirs or interested parties as defined under the statute. I have done this
before and judge has no problem doing so especially since the PR is also
sole heir. I wonder what the decedent was thinking to set up a potential
situation that was doomed from the outset.

Decedent left all property to wife including sep property home He named
his wife co-PR w/his son (stepson of the wife) who takes nothing under the
Will. The son is refusing to sign papers either to become Co-PR or to opt
out Same with the alternates (sibs) What can be done? She needs letters
ASAP b/c there was a house fire and the Bank won't endorse the Insurance
Check w/o "Letters"
