[WSBAPT] Charitable deductions and credit shelter trust or QTIP trust

Good afternoon.

My clients want to leave all property to the surviving spouse. To minimize
estate taxes, they are willing to use a credit shelter trust or QTIP
trust. When the second spouse dies, some, but not all, of the trust estate
goes to charity. It is important that the surviving spouse not change this
charitable gift. Is there any way to obtain an estate tax or income tax
charitable deduction for this gift from the trust to charity at the second
spouse’s death? The clients are not interested in a charitable remainder
trust.

Thank you in advance.

David
