[WSBAPT] IRA Question: Beneficiaries outside the US

I don’t know about the international issue, but if his children are of
substantially different ages he might consider splitting the IRA account
into two equal accounts, with each daughter named as beneficiary on one of
the accounts. That way the younger beneficiary would have a RMD period
based on her own age. The “stretch out” is based on the age of the oldest
beneficiary.

Subject: [WSBAPT] IRA Question: Beneficiaries outside the US

My client has pancreatic cancer. The biggest asset of his estate is his
IRA that has beneficiary designations for his two adult daughters who have
US citizenship, but live permanently in the Netherlands and travel on E.U.
Passports. Is there any issue with them inheriting his IRA and receiving
the payments over the IRA stretch?

Thanks.

Jane.
