[WSBAPT] Escheat?

I was just brought in by another attorney on a potential escheat of
estate. The client's stepfather recently died intestate. The client's
mother, who was married to the stepfather for 30+ years, also died
intestate about 4 months before the stepfather died. The stepfather has no
surviving family and the facts do not fit comfortably into RCW 11.04.095.
Anybody have any ideas? Anybody know of any cases where the court took an
equitable argument that, because a child was essentially the stepparent's
child due to the longevity of the marriage and the closeness of the
family, the estate would avoid escheat?
