Thank you. Link still doesn't work to get you directly to the article.
But I was able to find the article by typing in Andrews on the page that
came up.
Then when the search results came up, I typed in University of Washington
in the "narrow search results" block.
Then the article came up as the 4th in the list.

So it can be found but takes a little extra effort to get there.

Jackie, somehow the link that I sent is not the same as the link that your
system displayed.

I sent: http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id= 2417418 [here
I inserted a space after the equal sign so as not to repeat the
translation described below.]

Somehow the three characters "= 2 4" (an equals sign, a 2, and a 4, with
no spaces between them) in the link were treated as ASCII HEX (hexidecimal
24) code for a dollar sign character, which character then replaced those
three characters in the message that you received. see
http://www.ascii-code.com/

I don't know if the problem is with the listserv, or is with my or your
system, and I don't know how to prevent that for happening. Too technical
for me!

UW Law Prof. Tom Andrews published a useful article that summarizes scores
of published and unpublished WA cases addressing Committed Intimate
Relationships.

"Not So Common (Law) Marriage: Notes from a Blue State"
Estate Planning & Community Property Law Journal, Vol. 6, No. 1, pp. 1-34,
2013
University of Washington School of Law Research Paper No. 2014-09
THOMAS R ANDREWS, University of Washington - School of Law
Email: tra at u.washington.edu

One of the continuing challenges for American marital property law in the
twenty-first century, broadly understood, is what to do about property
disputes between domestic partners who are not married. More precisely,
the challenge is determining what to do when there are property disputes
between unmarried intimate partners, whether heterosexual or homosexual.
>From what I can tell, this is as much of a challenge in Texas as it is in
the rest of the country.

In the northwest corner of the country, we have a set of attitudes that,
like many social and cultural norms, have found their way into our common
law. These northwestern attitudes might not be so common, or at least so
commonly understood, in Texas. Thus, the purpose of this article is to
describe how my Blue State of Washington handles property disputes between
domestic partners, as well as to discuss what Texas might be able to take
from a Blue State approach.
