Given the extreme concern of the impacts of COVID-19 in Moscow, the public health emergency order is effective at midnight on July 2, 2020. The Moscow City Council will consider the order at their regular meeting on July 7, 2020, at 7 pm. The full order can be found at <a data-cke-saved-href="https://www.ci.moscow.id.us/783/Coronavirus-COVID-19" href="https://www.ci.moscow.id.us/783/Coronavirus-COVID-19">https://www.ci.moscow.id.us/783/Coronavirus-COVID-19</a>.<br><br>Also, in light of the increase in local and statewide cases and the difficulty of wearing masks at the Hamilton Lowe Aquatic Center, the pool opening, initially scheduled for July 1, is delayed until further notice. <br><br>Similar to the actions of Moscow City officials in early March in response to the pandemic the issuance of the new Public Health Emergency Order addresses the progression of COVID-19 and potential impacts on our employees, their families, and our community is significant. "In light of current cases and a trend towards a significant resurgence of COVID-19 infections and exposure in Moscow," Mayor Bill Lambert says, "it is prudent to assess the public health risks to the community as a whole."<br><br>In March 2020, the City activated its Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Plan to help navigate various stages of the pandemic. Governor Little's March 25, Statewide Stay-At-Home order later extended through April, then transitioned to the Idaho Rebounds Plan as of May 1, guided the State through the prescribed successive stages to date. On June 15, Governor Little announced that Idaho would remain in stage-4 as defined by the plan and transitioned COVID-19 response to regional or local jurisdictions, including Health Districts and Mayors. <br><br>City of Moscow officials have continuously monitored COVID-19 cases and potential exposure in Moscow. Officials have worked steadily to continue to prepare and plan for various possibilities of the changes in exposure and potential for community spread of COVID-19. Today, June 30, 2020, Idaho had the highest increases in cases since the outbreak began with 365 confirmed and probable cases. In the past 24 hours, the City has received informal word that as many as three local restaurants may have, or do have, confirmed cases of employee infection.
