<p>Driving from Mtn Home Idaho to Sumpter S. Carolina in 1971, were
were outraged to find gas cost 27 cents! VW van got pretty good
gas mileage, but had a small tank....So long ago!<br>

My very first job before graduating from high school (May ‘69) was
pumping gas and wiping windshields at a Shell gas station in
Northridge, California. Regular gas sold for 26 cents a gallon.
My first pay check was for $53 (I think).
