She battled terminal illness with the same fierce tenacity as she did everything else in life. She lived life large, with passion and dignity, until the end.</div><div><br></div><div>Linda was born in Virginia in 1945 to Dorothy Clark Gorman Hinshaw. She moved to Oregon as a child. She was valedictorian of The Dalles High School, graduated in philosophy from Reed College in Portland, studied at the University of London School of Economics and Bedford College, earned master's ('79) and PhD ('86) degrees in political science from Washington State University, and a JD ('85) from the University of Idaho. Linda taught at Kingston Polytechnic in England, Portland State University, WSU and UI. She moved to Moscow in 1972 and welcomed son Zachary in 1974. Linda loved being Zach's mom. He was the light of her life from his first breath to her last.</div><div><br></div><div>When Linda saw a need, she acted. She founded Moscow Day School, served on City Council for 18 years (1977-83, 1994-2002, 2004-08), championed human rights, democracy, the arts, downtown revitalization, Moscow farmer's market, sound land-use policies, trees, parks, livable communities and preservation of historic buildings in Moscow, including City Hall, the 1912 Center and Carnegie Library. Her work earned her a variety of awards from civic, human rights, legal and political organizations locally, regionally and nationally.</div><div><br></div><div>She loved helping others. As a lawyer, she practiced family law, employment law, civil rights and general civil practice. She began her career in the office of William Vern McCann Jr. in Lewiston, and operated a solo practice in Moscow from 1996 until the time of her death. She helped found the Family Law Section and Diversity Section of the Idaho State Bar Association and served as secretary and vice president of the Second District Bar. Linda coordinated civil rights seminars and celebrations of the U.S. Bill of Rights, including symposia in 2011 and 2016, to advance appreciation for the rule of law in everyday America.</div><div><br></div><div>Linda was diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension in 2003. To improve diagnostics and treatment for diseases like PAH, she founded the Inland Northwest Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Support Group, raising funds for research and supporting the establishment of a Center of Excellence at the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine.</div><div><br></div><div>Moscow's identity is Linda's legacy. Its tree-canopied streets, where people from all walks of life are made to feel welcome, where people of all ages and abilities can feel safe walking or biking, where the arts and history are integral and where residents expect government to be participatory all reflect Linda's influence. She has imparted her commitment to inclusion, public service and justice to her son, Zachary, who is also a lawyer.</div><div><br></div><div>To honor Linda's life and accomplishments, memorial gifts may be directed to Heart of the Arts, Inc. (412 E. 3rd St., Moscow ID 83843); the Linda Pall Law Student Scholarship Fund, #NF258 (University of Idaho Foundation, 875 Perimeter Dr., MS 3143, Moscow ID 83844), the Linda Pall Business, Ethics and Legal Education Scholarship Fund at the WSU Carson College of Business, or the Inland Northwest Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Support Group (304 E.
