I’m being facetious, of course. We love the activists of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and we admire them for turning their own terrifying and tragic experience into positive political action. Here’s a song I would love to retire: “To the Victims of This Tragedy We Send Our Thoughts and Prayers.”

Wanna know who Marjory Stoneman Douglas (whose last name was NOT High School) was? Born in 1890, Ms. Douglas was a suffragette, an advocate of racial equality, a reporter for the Miami Herald, and the “grande Dame of the Everglades” who devoted the last thirty years of her life - she lived to be 108 - fiercely protecting that irreplaceable region of American wilderness.
