It may be well to pay attention to this and related southern penguin stories in light of the increasingly endangered northern polar bears because there may be someone sufficiently stupid to want to introduce the northern "charismatic mega-fauna," as one local professor describes them, into the southern ecosystem of Antarctica. This would undoubtedly more than decimate the penguin population and alter the ecosystem balances of its supporting species. Penguins and polar bears flourish at opposite poles for good reasons.

And don't forget Linux, the computer operating system, for which the penguin is mascot, is an increasingly important electronic ecosystem inhabitant with valuable symbiotic benefits for the humans who interact with it.
