I would like to add that connectivity is for people not cars.</span></p></div><div class="subscriber-preview" style="box-sizing: border-box;"><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 24px; line-height: 27px;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">The members and supporters of Citizens for a Livable Community ask the city of Moscow to construct a pedestrian bridge over Paradise Creek at Third Street providing access for walkers, bicycles and wheelchair users. This would provide connectivity and be more affordable than a vehicle bridge. An estimated cost for a pedestrian bridge is about $70,000, and citizens raised $16,000 for this project after it was approved by Moscow City Council in 2007. A bridge for vehicles is estimated in Moscow budgets at somewhere between $1 million and $2 million. The more expensive bridge would bring thousands of cars and trucks driving within 100 yards of Lena Whitmore Elementary School and thousands more driving on an already traffic heavy Third Street (over 8,000 vehicles a day per a city 2011 count) past East City Park, Moscow High School and the 1912 Center.</span></p></div><div id="tncms-region-article_instory_top" class="tncms-region " style="box-sizing: border-box;"></div><div class="subscriber-only" style="box-sizing: border-box;"><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 24px; line-height: 27px;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Ms. Schulz is correct that we need a traffic flow that benefits all. This means encouraging and planning for traffic patterns that do not diminish the livability and safety of residential neighborhoods.
