<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, sans-serif;">If
you are a Walmart client, you might be surprised to learn that
it </span>may not<span style="font-family: Arial, Tahoma,
Helvetica, sans-serif;"> be around when you need it most, as the
company plans to shut down 269 of its stores all over the world,
including 154 spots in the U.S.</span></p>
<p>There will also be 60 stores in Brazil, 55 in Latin America, and
seven in Puerto Rico that will be shut down.</p>
<p>The personnel affected will also be huge. More than 16,000
employees will get impacted, tens of thousands of which work in
American stores, <a
href="http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/01/15/walmart-to-close-154-stores-in-us-10000-workers-affected.html"
rel="nofollow">Fox News</a> noted.</p>
<p>Even as sales have fallen, the global strategy is being
reassessed. However, Walmart assures that those stores that are
shutting down would be within 10 miles of another store.</p>
<p>Most of the departments shutting down in the U.S. were part of
the "Walmart Express" pilot program, which was an unexpected
failure, according to <a
href="http://time.com/money/4182308/walmart-closing-269-stores-2016/"
rel="nofollow">TIME</a>.</p>
<p>Other outlets that will be shutting doors include four Sam's Club
stores, six discount centers, 23 Neighborhood Markets, and 12
Supercenters.</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, sans-serif;">"It's
important to remember that we'll open well more than 300 stores
around the world next year. So we are committed to growing, but
we are being disciplined about it," Doug McMillon, </span>President<span
style="font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> and
CEO of Walmart, said in a press release.<br>
